Nike is not just a brand, nike is a lifestyle. Nike is when someone experiences unforgettable moments with exercise. Nike is the emotion you feel before, during and after exercise. Nike is the voice in your head pushing you to challenge yourself and face your fears. Nike inspires Riva and I and has inspired us to incorporate exercise into our daily lives, cycling to work, yoga with fat buddha yoga, running in the park at weekends and the nike training club app our our phones, which we do at home.
We were recently whisked away with other female bloggers and influencers to the island of sark. An island with only horse & carriage and bikes (no cars) you automatically felt you were very far from London. Coastlines looking like the Caribbean, stunning landscapes, the friendliest of people and a hotel destination so beautiful and idyllic it could make you want to migrate.
The journey began at The Ace Hotel in Shoreditch. A bedroom full of kit, a rooftop dinner with excellent food and chance to meet our #CrewRunTheSun for the challenge ahead. Our bellies were filled with Hoi Polloi, provided with fuel bands to track our points, we were off to bed for an early night in one of the Ace’s comfy deluxe rooms.
A 5am wake up call and we were off, Shoreditch to Gatwick, Gatwick to Geurnsey, Geurnsey to Sark. Straight off the boat our luggage taken from us and a greeting from our Nike master trainers, the island adventures had began. Our trek from the boat to our hotel was tough, the new terrain of the country side was a definite change to running in London all made easier with the sun shining down and the stunning sights of sark. We believe it is important to get with nature and take your training to new surroundings in the open air.
A healthy lunch and relax by the pool at the gorgeous Stocks Hotel followed by the afternoon challenge, we were hitting Barry’s Bootcamp and #ntc with the master trainers Joselyn, Anya & Sonja. A silent disco work out in the middle of a field, 40 girls all in crews coming together pushing one another through pain, a few tears, a lot of laughter was truly exhilarating. It always makes it so much easier to train in crews rather than on your own and we believe exercising should be fun and enjoyable. The pain I felt during those planks, the sprints and all the lunges, I needed Riva there to push me to finish.
Lucky for me, straight after the training Danielle, Cat & I were whisked off for a photo shoot to capture the adventures we were living. Shooting for Nike, wearing Nike, running with Nike, not forgetting yoga on a hay bale with nNike, this island trip was becoming pretty epic.
A busy, fast paced, exhilarating day was drawn to a close with even more exciting crew challenges. an evening of design and illustration with the fabulous hattie stewart, four GB Athletes and the nike id crew to help with design. Yes #CrewRunTheSun designed their very own Nike ID’s and believe them to be amazing!! Such a great evening, surrounded by amazing inspirational women and a gorgeous dinner put on by the nike team, the day came to a lovely close.
On the second day of our sark adventure was about facing fears, trusting your inner voice, having determination and strength to complete the challenges we were faced with. pulling carts, climbing into caves and climbing 300 steps down cliffs took the strength of our crew helping each other and pushing each other to complete. it is about believing and trusting in yourself and after completing these challenges with my fear of heights, reminded me i can face any challenge in life, not just in sport.
Growing up as dedicated athletes, sport has always come naturally to Riva and I and we continue to make fitness a part of our everyday life. we believe in making it fun and enjoyable, as well as challenging.
Our advice for women who want to exercise and have fun, is to grab your girls, form your crew and change your lifestyle to Nike.
#justdoit. It’s worth it.
