I promise I didn't mean to match my dress to the architecture that stands in the town of Sal Rei, the capital of Boa Vista.
Sal Rei bought a complete sense of warmth, family, community and love to me and I just could not put my camera down from the rainbow coloured homes of the locals. African traders road side selling hand made baskets, sarongs, paintings and hand carved wooden sculptures. School children running around their high street playing games, fishermen weighing in the latest catch at the port with the young girls and women selling it at the fish market.
A beautiful town on the north west coast of the island rustic and dishevelled, yet charming and an idyllic seaside location. We stopped off at the very cool La Boaventure for a drink. A quirky, eclectic hostel with bar, very relaxed and laid back with awesome interior and you can rent a room for a budget price. (I wish we had stayed for a night!!) We made a couple of trips into town and I will be sharing my favourite bar in my next blog.
